The DogFather Transport

Nick DeSantis — “The Dogfather” of Flagler County

For over 16 years Nicholas S.  DeSantis, known throughout Flagler County and Florida as “The Dogfather,” has dedicated much of his life to helping animals in need and the people who love them. His mission grew from the bond he shared with his beloved St. Bernard, Riley, whose passing in 2015 inspired Nick to turn grief into a lasting commitment to animal rescue and service.

Today, through The Dogfather Charity Transport Services, Nick helps with rescue and veterinary transports, reuniting lost pets with their families, home checks, fostering, rehoming, dog sitting, and other situations where an animal needs someone willing to step in and help.

Just as important as the hands-on rescue work is Nick’s role as an outspoken advocate for animals in Flagler County. He speaks publicly about animal cruelty and neglect, works with local rescues and volunteers, attends government meetings, and continues to push for stronger animal welfare, better resources, and accountability when animals are being failed.

In 2026, Nick has remained actively involved in rescue efforts throughout the community, including working alongside SMART of Flagler County during the recent 67 Healing Hearts rescue effort. He has helped frightened and neglected dogs learn to trust people again, supported their socialization and recovery, and helped prepare them for loving homes.

Nick describes his purpose simply: “a servant to the lost paws of this world.” Whether that means transporting an animal, helping a family in need, standing up publicly for animals without a voice, or working alongside others to improve animal welfare in Flagler County, Nick continues to make that mission his priority.
